It's Not Me

Tell me why you are crying
Don’t turn away my love
What is it you’re hiding
Why can you not seem
To open your heart up to me
I know it has been broken
give me one chance and believe
All the words I have spoken

I can see the pain in your eyes
tracks of the tears you have cried
I can feel your heart start to race
Sadness expressed on your face
And I know how scared you must be
To trust in love so pure and so free
I don’t know who hurt you
But baby it's not me

Why are you so quiet tonight
No need for fear or for lies
Honey why do you hold me so tight
As though you’re afraid I will leave
Have you been wounded so deep
Happiness nothing more than a dream
Yet with every kiss is reprieve
And in my arms you can sleep

I can see the pain in your eyes
tracks of the tears you have cried
I can feel your heart start to race
Sadness expressed on your face
And I know how scared you must be
To trust in love so pure and so free
I don’t know who hurt you
But baby it's not me

Can you hear yourself calling my name
See the way you run to my embrace
I can set your heart back a flame
Make sun light shine through the rain
Show you how good loving can be
I know who can love you
And baby it's me

------- Author's Notes -------

Absolutely lovely...

I really liked this one Ing. It reminds me so much of someone I know who has trouble expressing that exact same thing. Wonderful!

Thank you both....

Meri, Miss Moon as always your words make me appreciate how much of an impact poems can have. The fact that my fellow poets such as you enjoy my writing keeps me excited about this art. Thank you again for your words.

Best Poem!

I just love "I don't know who's hurt you, but baby it's not me". And then you end with, "I know who can love you, and baby it's me." Swoon!
