Late Summer Thoughts

Expectations
of possibilities
have faded like
the darkening days.

Some things are great.
A lot of freedom gained
some freedom lost
some peace of mind
some distress
some joy - some doom
Isn't this what the balance
is all about?
Yet, more forlorn days
than I can recall
a lesson to be learned?
perhaps many.

I admire the strength of urban nature.
The trees fight so much harder,
to survive the pollution,
the often cruel environment.
They struggle and often survive
even thrive.

I must do the same
survive well
in this jungle of concrete,
badly designed urban planning,
faceless people, apathy...

Yet,
despite everything
I found myself
dancing joyfully
last night.
Something is right.
It's all right.
Summertime
It's ultimately fine.
The sound of cicadas is so loud
it's exhilarating!
