I Think But Do Not Know

What I remember the most
about everything was
your smile
the way I could make
you smile
it was honey coated
with a hint of mint
mixed with green tea
so that when you would smile
it was warm and
satisfyingly filled me
with the desire for more

but then there was
your touch
I could spend all day waiting
just for one feel of
your hand
your lips
your fingers stroking my cheek
I could wait all day and it
would not be wasted

each and every moment
I spent with you
was one perpetuity after another
and it gave me hope
to know that I would never
lose the game of love
with either one kiss or a million
each was a new time
a new place
a new happiness

or at least that’s
what I thought……

some how I ended
up in this desert craving
a drink of words that would
never come saying you didn’t mean it
that you still loved
who we were
what we had
but you still needed more

so I sit here alone in a
beautiful oasis
but the water does not fill
me like your green tea smile
the worlds upside down
and I’m swaying in every direction
nothing to guide me
no sounds to lead
no you to hold

I stand bedazzled on what happen
with just a sudden goodbye
was it my fault
was it yours
it will never be clear
all I can do is accept the fact that

what I think and know was
not what I thought and knew
