Silence

An overload of impulses throughout my head,
A brain full of energy to much to bear,
A switch now flicks inside of my head,
Deafness falls inside of my soul,
A silence that becomes unbearably loud,
Seven senses become six too many,

My hearing shuts down to stop this overload,
Fully aware I no longer hear,
I see, feel, and touch however, alone in despair,
Time ticks by and my head now clears,
Hearing returns as it’s done many times before,

Silence becomes my body’s gift,
To shut me down in times of stress,
In silence I hear a beautiful calm,
In silence I feel aware of it all,
In silence I return to a place full of peace,
In silence I forget the time and place,

To hear again I see each sound,
I feel the noises rushing around,
Fortunate or not to have this gift,
I see it a blessing that is his to give,

His silence is awakening to all who hear,
His loudness in sound is his beautiful song,
Listen to who, not just who you are,
Listen to the glory of his warming touch.
