She Knows Me Well

she senses that something's wrong,
and she comes around,
wondering,
concerned,
perhaps worrying,
and looks into my face,
quietly,
speaking to me with her eyes,
asking what is bothering me,
asking if she can do anything,
asking if she can make me feel better...
and by her simple gestures,
by her small bit of attention to my feelings,
by the way she reaches out to me,
she brings a slight smile to my lips,
and brings me back from the edge
of the mental abyss where I was standing,
and I reach out and scratch behind her ear,
and she nuzzles my hand,
rubbing her jaw line against my hand,
purring a bit,
and she looks up into my eyes once more
before she turns,
and, with a flip of her tail,
her job done for the moment,
she goes to the couch and curls up for a nap.

Cats-R-Good

Your description of how your cat somehow senses sadness or that things aren't quite the way they should be, and how she responds, reminds me of the cats that somehow chose to join our household in my younger days. What you expressed seems so true to my memories of that time.

amasing animals

It is amazing how animals can settle our frazzled nerves when no one else can. How they can sense the need for silent companionship even when people can't... They are a wonder and a God send.

Great write and tribute your your feline champion..

An ex cat hater

It is funny how whenever Blondie, our cat, comes into the room that everything seems all right. Whenever we are down, upset, or just out of sorts, she brings us back to reality and comforts us. She is immune to angry talk; she just looks up at you and you melt...

they can do that....

i think it's in their job description... first they rescue us by becoming part of our family, then they take care of us by making sure we are sane.

She makes it hard to type

However, she gets on my lap whenever she wants and when I try to type-no way.
