Amy

vinebar

She used to run with the wind
Companion, protector, friend
Time comes as it always does
Saying goodbye; a difficult end

She used to lay upside down
I had an "angel in my arms"
Catch and chase her favorite fun
So her santa toy was never far

Laying at my feet waiting
Keeping my toes nicely snug
I will miss her always barking
When my husband dared a hug

Gentle mothering Amy
So sad her life is done
She closed her eyes one last time
Now with the wind she'll run

------- Author's Notes -------

I had to put my Amy down today. She lived 14 wonderful years. She was a wonderful dog
who lived a full life. She will be greatly missed.

awww

Sometimes losing a pet is like losing a child, a dear and close personal friend. Sorry for the loss of such a wonderful animal.

a warm tribute...

a warm tribute, and well written, becky...
many have worn your shoes and felt the anguish,
but the memories are safe, and though they can't wipe away the tears of missing, they can bring comfort.

Thank you for sharing this. I had to put my dog of 18 yrs. down today. Tyronne was more than a dog he was my best buddy, and a member of the family. It feels like these tears will never stop flowing
