A young boy and girl going to the same school.
The girl looks so pretty the boy thought he was cool.
Picking and fighting calling each other names.
Until they shared those letters in class one day.
They sent those letters across the sea and land.
Their mom and dad making footprints in that unknown sand.
Their fighting for our freedom a word we well know,
Love in those letters praying they'd come home.
Yes her mommy's in the army she helps the wounded ones.
The boy's proud of his daddy protects us with his gun.
Now he thinks she's pretty she thinks he's really cool.
Cause their mommy and daddy's making footprints for me and you.
They sent those letters across the sea and land.
Their mom and dad making footprints in that unknown sand.
Their fighting for our freedom a word we well know.
Love in those letters praying they'd come home.
Another letter to his daddy across the sea.
Daddy I met a girl she's so pretty to me.
Her mommy's in the army she helps the wounded ones.
Daddy please protect her with your gun.
Another letter to her mommy that she wrote in school.
Mommy I met a boy he's really cool.
His daddy's in the army he protects us with his gun.
Mommy please help him if he's a wounded one.
Many more letters across the sea and land.
Praying for our soldiers making footprints in that sand.
Now he thinks she's pretty she thinks he's really cool.
Cause their mommy and daddy's making footprints for me and u.
Making footprints for me and you.

------- Author's Notes -------

I wrote this song when Kellie Pickler was on tour in Iraq.
Our daughter Tiffany was in Camp Echo when Kellie was visiting our troops. (Tiffany's home safe now)
I wanted to thank Kellie and USO for what they do for our soldiers.( AWSOME WORK)
God bless all of our men and women serving our country.
PS It would be a blessing if Kellie would accept this song on her next cd.
