In Full Bloom

Have you ever watched a flower bloom?
I mean really watched
Focusing on the petals as they peek out ever so slightly
At the sun that shines down from the heavens above
Reluctant are they to take the risk to open up
To let the sunshine in
To warm them inside and out
It is a painstakingly slow process
Each morning I rise to greet the new day
And marvel at the journey you have begun
This morning I thought for sure I’d find your petals wide awake
No, not yet you seem to say
Reminding me that growth is a process
It takes time and requires more than a bit of patience
I am filled with anticipation
I am filled with hope
I speak to you; feed you that special miracle food
Offering you a drink now and then
Encouraging you to trust in yourself
To blossom forth
At long last revealing the true beauty you try so hard to hide
Yes my dear rose take the risk
Smile inside, show us your lovely face
Burst open with a sense of pride!
