Alas My Love!

Alas My Love! Autumn has begun...
The sun is hidden among the clouds,
The trees are taking off their clothes,
Naked they expect the future and all
The surprises it can bring...
Maybe a possible understanding in spring...

Alas My Love! Look at the leaves gathering
At my feet...It seems my friends trees are crying too...
Maybe They are weeping for me and you.
Maybe they are losing to gain...

As I cross the streets of autumn,
I think of you again...
Can love that is lost be found?
No answer, no sound...
Silence everywhere...

Alas My Love! I am leaving you there...
I am washing away this sorrow...
I am not going to sink under this grief...
I know only time will bring my relief...

Alas My Love! Henry VIII is right..
You did me wrong...
For I have loved you well and long.

------- Author's Notes -------

There is a belief Henry VIII wrote Greensleeves, i borrowed two lines from this traditional folk song:

'Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.'
