vinebar

Playing my guitar as the disinterested drink their choice of poison
Looking for the one face where the music matters
Finding him, I play for him... He appreciates the sound

It was early in the night, I knew things always changed later
A time when everyone decides their feet can no longer sit still
The floor fills with dancers in groups and duets

I search for the appreciator, where he sits, eyes upon me
Raising a glass he nods as my eyes meet his
Looking away to avoid total distraction.. I sing on

A smile at first hidden, parts the corners of my lips
Feeling that the worth of my words have at least reached him
In that moment it makes sense. All the years given to my passion
