In The Fog

What a time for my car to break down, it had always been dependable, I guess I depended on it for to many years, But it is to late to think about it now, the deed is done.

The street lights cast an eery glow on the wet streets as I walk. There is a light fog surrounding me, There are eary shadows all around. Someone is going to attack me, Oh that is only a tree in the park. I take a shortcut through the park and I wish I hadn’t. It is even worse and darker here in the park. It seems like behind every bush there is someone lurking, I am sure I will be attacked before I leave this park.

Somehow I cheated death, I am out of the park now, but the streets are still spooky. Oh how I wish I were home drinking hot coffee and watching television, One always seems to take advantage of there home, unless they can’t get to it. I will get to my home by hook or crook, I will fight and win, all of those robbers and killers that I imagine are out on this night. I will fight to my death I promise. Soon I will be in my cozy home.

My wife and kids are waiting for me, I must get there. When I arrive they will put their arms around me and hug me ever so tight, they will kiss my face from my mouth to my hairline. And I will kiss and hug them back. Oh how I want to be home.

I am getting closer now, I can tell by the smell of the bakery in my neighborhood. The fog is getting thicker as I walk. But I am a Determined man. I will be home soon. And be with my family again.

There it is. My house. I can hardly see it because of the fog, I walk up on the porch, as I’m reaching for my key, my wife opens the door. She rushes to my arms and says, I have been so worried about you. Are you alright? And before I can answer her my kids join her and I on the front porch, and the hugging and kissing starts again.

We go in the house as a unit, I tell them about the car and the tree and the fog. My wife fixes a pot of coffee, as we are drinking it, I say, honey tomorrow let’s look for a new car.
