The Last Leaf Of Autumn
25 November, 2001
Author: Don Fraser

It is hanging on
Before the winter does come
It is the last leaf
Of autumn
Is it the strongest leaf of all?
Maybe that’s the reason
It won’t fall
Mother tree needs the room
Other leaves she
Will groom
Soon this leaf will let go
It will plummet
To the snow
It might quiver in the breeze
As the wind
Sounds like a sneeze
It will quiver no more
As it lays on the forest floor
When spring comes again
Mother tree will have
More leaves to train
So feel sorry for this leaf
There is no others to
Give relief
It will be no more
For it is dead
On the forest floor
