A Single Tear

I paint you in the single tear that fell upon your back
a tear that fell in the knowledge that again I must leave you
I try to hold them back until you can no longer see
but as you sleep here beside me your eyes are closed
and for the moment you cannot see my internal pains

The times I face the loneliness of my existence
I hold on to the magic of the limited time we share
stolen moments for just us and no on else
interrupted only by the realities that surround us
quietly I succumb to the realities as I have no choice

But in my solitude no one sees my tears
no one sees the loneliness as it devours me
no one knows the pleasure I find in your memories
how I close my eyes and bring you into my life again
I try to ignore my empty arms and the inevitable cold

Forgive me my escaping tear as I paint you in my love
A love only quenched by your touch, your kiss,
a stroke of your hand that lights me afire
For as much as there is pain in leaving once again
There is so much more joy in the pleasure of my return

Till then, everyday I will long for you
