Purpose

Every person has a purpose in life
Sometimes it's not evident what it is,
But every life has meaning and purpose

We may feel at times
As if we are meandering thru life aimlessly,
But there is a greater plan and purpose for us all
There are times that we question what it is,
But everything is revealed in its own time

Our purpose in life should be
Nothing more than to do what makes us happy and contented
And along the way makes others happy
Because if you don't start with the purpose of pleasing yourself
There is no chance that others will find you pleasing either

What each person needs to decide is this...
Is it more important, and will I derive more happiness
From making others happy before myself,
Or should they derive pleasure from my happiness?
When you can answer that question
Then you will know what your purpose in life is

Not everyone can cure cancer or re-invent the wheel,
But we all have it in ourselves to make the world a better place
Even if it is in our little part of the world
And if we can accomplish that,
Then we have fulfilled the purpose of our lives

The author Norman Mailer wrote:
"I don't think life is absurd. I think we are all here for a huge purpose.
I think we shrink from the immensity of the purpose we are here for."

It is up to each of us to find our purpose and fulfill it
Whatever it my be
And however long it takes us to do so

Only then can we consider our lives a success
And until then,
It is up to each of us
To continue living and searching for our purpose
