Wisdom

It is said that wisdom comes with age
I believe that wisdom comes from living a full life
No matter how old you are

The experiences that you go thru in your life give you the wisdom,
Not the number of years you have lived
Just because you haven't lived as long as others
Doesn't mean that you have not been wizened

Wisdom is not always something that comes from a textbook
It is more likely the knowledge acquired
Thru a lifetime of experiences
Some lifetimes, though short in years,
Are fraught with moments that provide wisdom beyond belief

We all have trying moments in our lives
Moments that "test the wills of men",
But those are the moments that provide us
With the wisdom we need to move forward,
The wisdom to grow and mature,
The wisdom to become better people

Wisdom can be gained thru happy times and sad times,
Trial and tribulation and joy and ecstasy
What we do with the wisdom gained
From all of our life experiences
Determines the type of person you will become

Does the wisdom harden you and force you into a shell,
Or does it teach you what changes you need to make
To live a happy life?

Hopefully we all take the wisdom of our years,
No matter how many years that is,
And let it teach us what we need to learn

No person is born with the wisdom they need to live a full life
It is up to each of us to live our lives
So that the experiences of every day
Teach us what we need to know
And to be the people that we want to be

Only thru a lifetime of experiences and learning
Can we truly consider ourselves wise
