Earths Fallen Angels

Blood upon his fingertips is a tormented father
reaching for another beer in the refrigerator
For he is quick to drink yet another.
Bruises upon his wives battered face
a smile across his while drinking his life away.
Spoken in hopes for a new," it'll all be okay"
The words that their child would hope and pray.
Tear drops trickling down his cheeks
as the very innocence of a child leaks.
Though this was only in denial,
the child painted on a smile
for this torment was one of a daily trail.
After the fighting had reached its end
he said the only happy thought that was in his head.
as his heart raced
"Mommy I am six years old today"
She whispered while looking down upon her only child
"daddy and I will take you to your present in a little while
please get ready to leave the birthday party isn't far"
The child excitedly raced and sat patiently in the car
Make up covering the vicious marks of her beating beat
The frail mother sat in the passenger seat.
Behind the wheel sat the husband
With his beer held tightly in his hand.
The dream for love and peace crawls
Quivering down life's darkened halls
For hope is only for the blind and the dull
Rays of deceit unable to see
alcohol is a blindfold to thee.
Driving fast and recklessly
The sirens blaring and the ambulance lights flashing
Death was quick to sneak
as the little boy cried for his mother in a scream
blood was blending with the asphalt and concrete
How could the end of innocence occur
As her son lay dead in front of her
Blood falling rapidly from his head
she held tightly onto his hand
In despair she stared deeply at her husband
"I loved you, look at what you did"
were the last words her beaten lips said.

Killed by unforgiving viciousness
this is what alcohol has done to us
Earths angels laid to die
He was to young, her to kind to die.
