Warmth Of A Hand

Long have I forgotten this
the ability to feel the warmth of another
the night air crispy and cool
flowing into a serene song simply
in the moment my hand embraces yours
wonderful

Many seasons have come and went
parts of me grew worn and weary
believing that the idea of affection from another
however simple or complex it may fall unto
my heart would no longer sustain it
that perhaps fairytale endings
remain only in the stories
and yet your hand
tells me different

Falling into the night
I dare not let go
fearful that this may only be just a midday slumber
you yourself never releasing mine
the blood within me churns molten
warming me and bringing bits of my soul
lost to the abyss back into the realm of belief
to be not afraid to try again

Let it not be a dream
may I not wake in the fields
under forest stars only to find another wanting
gone unheard
let it be real
this simple touch
this simple smile your eyes bring to me
the ability to feel anything again
I pray it be true

Among the stars out
vibrant as God has made them, one holds my many wishes
I shall cast another unto it this night
that I may be blessed for the chance
to feel the warmth of your hand
once more
