My Lovers Three
29 March, 2011
Author: Elizabeth Squires

vinebar

my three lovers
were a trio of no goods
in the following vinagrettes
I'll spill the goods

Lover#1

my first was a treat
he surely knew
how to make a girls
heart rapidly beat

his roving eye
would train it's self
on any skirt
that presented it's self

once I got the news
about his afflicted eye
I gave him the toss
and had another try

Lover#2

my second was a cod
he surely knew
how to make
a woman feel odd

he batted
for the other side
he had no interest
in taking a bride

once I got the news
about his team sports
I exiled him
for another sort

Lover#3

my third was a grub
he surely knew
how to make
a woman take a thud

he put a gloss
on everything
promising the world
yet delivering nothing

once I got the news
about his misleading crap
I shunted him off
out of my lap

as you can plainly see
my lovers three have soured me

no more lovers will I take
this girl/woman deserves a break

Ha,ha, Great!

Awesome poem! very cleverly written. I guess I would be #1. Most men can't help themself. We are just breeders of the world. If he's not then he's a girl. Should look with just a side eye, and not let it be noticable. At my job at the college, they say 3 sec. rule. Okie-dokie!

...

Nice poem, but I think you meant to write "vignette" :)

or?

You know what, disregard that. You probably meant to do that with for the "spill the goods" line. Sweet!
