I grieve for the little girl lost
For dolls still and silent, for bridges not crossed
For dreams not fulfilled, for beach balls not tossed
I dream of the little girl lost
I think of the little girl gone
Of wishes not granted, of songs left unsung
Of eyes that would sparkle, of hair washed in sun
I think of the little girl gone
I dream of the little girl here
Her talk never ending, her bending my ear
Her teasing, her telling, her smile so dear
I dream of the little girl here
I cry for the little girl still
Her body so fragile, her strong iron will
That soft breathless banter, that giggle so shrill
I cry for the little girl still
I smile for the little girl now
A race won, a champion, a curtsy, a bow
A frame strong and limber, a body that's "WOW!"
I smile for the little girl now

My memories for Melissa who came into my life, touched it and left before I was ready to let her go.

very well done...

this brings to mind the song, Turn Around, sung by so many artists... the visuals are there, and the pain at the end is as the closing of a curtain at the end of a performance...
