Learning Patience

Having a girlfriend with Alzheimer's,
I see alot of frustration in her.

She doesn't know what day it is,
Telling her seems to put her at ease.

Then two minutes later she'll ask again.
So that's when my patience began.

I'll tell her as many times she needs.
Making Alzheimer patients comfortable and useful
is what they need.

Learning patience for them.
from family and friends
Is something that they need also.

Alzheimer's is a terrible disease

A relative of mine has that, but she doesn't seem to be in the later stages yet.

I remember seeing how Alzheimer's affected patients firsthand at the Alzheimer's Association. They may wander or forget how to use the bathroom.

Yes, you have to have patience and know how to work with them.

Nice poem Barb.

Seeing this disease first hand and seeing what it can do is sad ,but having family and friends that are patient and understanding helps them alot. Thanks for your understanding comment.

Patience is Love...

Hi Barb, this is a very Powerful and most accurate piece...
Patience can walk a lonely soul home...My dear Father-in-law had Alzheimer's...I could see the pain behind his eyes, so much he lost, he knew it but yet he was not sure what it was he was missin'...although he remembered my Hugs just was not sure whom I was...
Patience is what we owe these fine folks whose minds are attacked by such disease......it affects them all differently , but the effect is always the same...inside of their mind they are still the same person , but with a fog that they can not surrender...God Bless You for such a Warm piece of your Soul..on Patience...
Namaste* Terrie@}-'-,
