The Beauty In The Unexpexted

Meeting you was nothing special.
I figured you would leave my life,
With the same simplicity and quickness,
As you came crashing into it.
The two of us from opposing worlds,
A heavy hearted college student
Struggling to find herself,
And a heart broken soldier
Returning from the sands of war.
Without intention or motive,
Between the laughs and no nothing fights,
Our worlds crashed in around us
Leaving this beautiful impossibility.
Despite all obstacles of reality,
Breaking all rules and unforgiving fears.
Without warning or preconceived notion,
We fell in love.
I could list the reasons and excuses why not,
Locate the easy ways out,
Conjure up ways this could self destruct,
And name the people waiting to see the leftover carnage.
But ignoring our instincts,
And the deafening screams of our hearts desires
Will leave us without answers
And the torture of endless 'what ifs'.
For fear of loosing you,
I have previously said and done nothing.
But with a leap of faith,
I poetize this.
To my best friend,
The one person who understands me,
My greatest annoyance,
And my brave hero.
No matter how or why
And against all odds,
With every cell of my being,
I am completely in love with you.
Without knowing how this ends,
Or a 'once upon a time',
Let our hearts write one for history
With love to yours, from mine.
