The Dream Fades
8 November, 2012
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)

It is a time to reflect on a world now gone
where there was freedom of choice
and a person could feel secure

It is the end of the world as we know it
as each day we grow further from our past
further from the original dream

I pray for a future where America stands proud
where we are a country of people who strive for betterment
not entitlement

The glimpse of the return of the American dream fades
turning to a socialist society of handouts and freebies
but at what cost

It is time to reflect on a world now gone
as the elected plays the part of kings
and the ghosts of our fore-fathers hang their heads in shame
