Fallen Angel
26 January, 2003

vinebar

A dainty angel with guilded wings
deviates from her path
Leaving the smooth, well-trod
for the unknown, dark
The harmony that had
for so long consumed her life
warped into a deafening silence
The soundtrack of her aimless journey.

Flashes of the past remind her
of the emerald plants adorned with red jewels
that had so long surrounded her
They are wilted now
and the jewels have flown off
swept away by the breath of the clouds

She runs frantically
toward nowhere fast
She sees no horizon looming,
but still she waits
waits for the day when she can float
sail away into the eternity
of the pale blue sky
To a place that is yet unseen
except for flashes through her dreams

A place that occupies her mind
as upstream she swims
and tears spill out
of her cinnamon eyes
on to her silky face
A place where her heart
will forever cease to ache.
