Can words do justice
to a snowy field bathed
in moonlight?

Can the starlight
of each flake
be conveyed with
d-i-a-m-o-n-d?

What are words
when representing beauty?
Is there an image rebuilt
from a poem's lines?

I cannot paint you
a picture.
I cannot hand you
last winter's snow.
But I'll show you
what I know,
through my words.

In your eyes
I see that field:
snowy, glowing
with silver light;
diamonds shimmering,
snowflakes fluttering down.

It's the beauty that I see,
the words that come to mind.

------- Author's Notes -------

It's been awhile since I've shared my work with you here on DreamersReality. I've been trying to get some work published and have published some on my own, but I wanted to get back to my roots and see what's been going on here on DR. This is a poem I've had on my blog, and free on some ebook sites, for over a year, but I think it's a good one to share here and show what I've been up to. I hope you enjoy it.
