Angel

There's so much I couldn't tell you, I wish we had more time
But when you had to leave me, I never thought I'd climb
My way out of depression, I never was that strong
Without you in my life, I didn't feel I could belong
But even as time passed, and though the hurt won't fade
I take a look around me, and see the life I made
I'm married with a son, and we're living on our own
And though we're far away Alpharetta's still my home

Just this last October, Daniel turned a year
I wish you could have met him, though it feels like you're near
He points at all your pictures, and stares off into space
He laughs and says your name with a smile on his face
You're a bright spot in his life, even when it pours
I have but one regret, that he couldn't be in yours
I know that you're his angel, you watch him every day
And when he really needs you, you'll wash his fears away

We buy an angel every year, and put it in your case
I rearrange them all each time to find the perfect place
Even when we're low on funds Josh says he understands
As we buy them all, I can see them in your hands
When we go to Georgia, I'm visiting your grave
I'm bringing Daniel with me, I'm sure that he'll behave
We'd like to sit with you, and visit for a while
Everything you've done, has made our lives worthwhile

Hey Seizure

Great poem. It's a challenge to move on from the lost of a loved one. Life goes on, but it's impossible to forget.
