Doubt

I have been taught that all things are possible if i can just believe, and yet here i am in a world full of doubt, it's like i'm trapped and i just can't get out, my mind is full of confusing thoughts and
I just wanna believe.

I find my myself curious, but i am a realist and just because it's written down don't make it so. See, i know a little bit and so i'm tryin to fit, what i believe and that which i have never seen and make it jell with what actually is.

It is so difficult for me to believe that the world was made in less than a week, and then have fossilized records that prove the existence of life billions of years before.

I don't wanna doubt, but it just don't fit, and nomatter how i try to make it work it just don't make sense, that the world was made in less than a week and on the seventh day he rested. See i don't believe in maagic tricks, but i do believe in heaven.

Now i ain't no reverend or no preacher, buying doctorate degrees, and i ain't no fool and what i have been taught to believe, nomatter how i try to add it up one and one will never equal three.

You've got some that teach that Christ gave his life on Friday, then rose again on Sunday, and you've got preachers all over the country talkin bout the seven last words. I got seven words for you...it just don't make sense to me!!

I don't know what calculator they're using but Friday evening as the sun was about to set to Sunday morning before sunrise is not three days and three nights.

You see, the dead sea scrolls have a different take, on how the story goes, but what so many call truth, is simply the version of the story that Constantine wanted to be told, when he romanized the faith and entitled it Christianity.

It seems like people who are unsure, are trying to educate people that do not know, and at the end of the day, it all seems ridiculously confusing.

------- Author's Notes -------

When i heard that you were gone i was blown away, because i am truly a fan. I didn't know you personally but your music resonated with me. I am true a fan and although you are gone, your music will never die. Prince Rogers Nelson, Rest In Peace.
