When you fall asleep tonight,
don't go alone.
Know that I am yours,
and I am with you,
even if only in your thoughts,
as you are in mine.
Never think for a moment
that you are alone in your world,
because I am here.
I cannot be there,
but I can be here,
and while that is not as good,
for now it is quite a bit.
I know how you feel,
because I feel the same way.
My arms ache to hold you,
my chest feels hollow
without you in my arms,
and my tears threaten to fall
because of my feelings for you.
Alone?
Yes, we are alone,
in a way,
but know that we are with each other
in our thoughts,
and smile at that.
Better to have loved and lost,
than to never have known you at all.
We ache.
It is a special thing,
a quiet, insistent pain of the heart,
exquisitely intense and forever hurting,
but one day....
that is what we say in our minds....
maybe one day....
