Thomas Square
Author: Shiloh

There is still a small park
in old Honolulu,
across the street from
the Honlulu Academy of Arts,
with a huge fountain centered
in a great circle of banyan trees,
that I miss dearly.
It is a memory
from when I was still virginal
in things of life,
and that is likely why
it remains to this date
as a very special memory.
It was in the early Fifties,
and Hawaii was still called
the Territory of Hawaii,
and it was a beautiful place
to be a child.
I could have stayed there
in that age and time
and never discovered a frown
or pain or hurt of life,
and I would have been happy.
