On Marbles As An Investment...

I have learned, over time,
to not be aso concerned with "value" of a marble,
and to just enjoy collecting them
because I appreciate their beauty.
Like anything else that folks collect or save
in order to reap financial benefits later,
something is only worth
what another will be willing to pay for it.
I have a lot of marbles,
and I will be offering up some very soon,
but I am not fooled into thinking
that what I might want for one
will be what I will get.
That is the teaching point of an auction –
you are brought humble
by the final offer of the bidder.
True, you may be lifted
to great heights by the same bidder,
but do not hold that picture in your mind,
or you may be disappointed,
and that would turn you bittter in time.
Just enjoy the moment
and have fun, if you are able,
and it will all work well at the end.
If it doesn't,
then don't do that again.
