There's a lot that I must tell you, so much you have to know
I thought that we would have more time before you'd have to go
But I took too long, we missed the hour glass
I've got to make up for it, we can't dwell upon the past
Sometimes there are bad guys, sometimes the bad guys win
Don't let those bastards break you down and all you could have been
I know I said I'd be there, I know it's what I swore
Your mom and I don't agree, now I can't be there anymore

It's a lot to handle and it's hard to understand
I don't understand myself, none of this was planned
Please don't turn away, please don't start to cry
I can see the tears you have, forming in your eye
I know it makes you sad, I wish that you could stay
It eats me up inside to have to see you go away
Watching parents fight is a pain you shouldn't know
To save you from this agony, the court wants you to go

Remember all the science books, remember what you learned?
You picked up everything in every page that you turned
You see the twinkle in the sky to the right of Messier?
That's the star I'll watch with you, every single day
We may not see each other but I'll be in your heart
As long as we can share the sky we're never far apart
Can I get just one more hug, before you go away?
I'll wait for you in Heaven. We'll rest again one day

------- Author's Notes -------

A poem of only three stanzas, yet it was the hardest thing I've ever written.
