Sometimes

Sometimes…
well, sometimes this is what it’s like,
this thing called life…
so very near,
yet so very, very far away…

You are on your platform,
waiting for your train,
and you look across the tracks,
to the platform on the other side,
and you see… her.

The most beautiful girl in the world,
and she looks over at you,
and she smiles…
and then she steps into the car of her train,
and it is an express,
and the train pulls out of the station,
and you see her in the window
as she is slowly carried away from you
forever.

But you will never forget her.
You will never forget her face
or her smile,
and you will forever look for her,
hoping to see her face in the crowd
somewhere…
anywhere…

She had such a beautiful
and warm and open smile,
and you know that if you had a chance
just to talk with her,
just to say hello…
well, that would be the beginning
of the most beautiful part of life
for you, and for her…

And the doors open for you,
and you sadly step into your car,
which is going in the opposite direction…
