Weekend Fun

I have to chuckle when I see the poor folks running like crazy!
They get out of work Friday afternoon, and it’s like “DRIVERS START YOUR ENGINES!” as they jump behind the wheel and get the hell out of the parking lot and head for HOME!
“O my gosh – I got the WHOLE WEEKEND!!”
Saturday they run to the hardward or lumber store, rush around getting things, rush back home, do stuff… and the entire day is gone before you know it.
And then you only have HALF of the weekend left. And you thought you had so much TIME to HAVE FUN! You were wrong.
OK, so you put off mowing the lawn for now thinking you’ll get it done one evening the coming week right after work, but it’s gonna rain every damn day, so you won’t, but right now you MUST HAVE SOME FUN!!
So you sit down with a cup of coffee and the Sunday paper and you think you’ll figure something out to do the rest of the day, so you can have some fun… but…
Everyone in the house has their own idea of what fun would be, and you learn that your ideas don’t mesh well with everyone else’s ideas, and by the time you finally understand that and think that you’ll just do something FUN alone… it’s time for lunch, and Mom and the kids and you sit down for lunch and maybe some MEANINGFUL CONVERSATION, but it disolves into a verbal free-for-all over some trivial matter that doesn’t really matter, so that idea went to hell rather quickly.
By now, if you looked into a mirror, you would see it in your face:
YOU’RE RUNNING OUT OF WEEKEND!,— Sunday is pretty much shot, you haven’t had FUN yet, and… and… you sit around thinking of all the things you thought you would have done to have FUN doing, but you didn’t, and it’s now three in the afternoon! Scratch that – it’s 3:45 in the afternoon.
You’ve run out of weekend. Basically, you blew it.
The only thing you have now is Monday, and GOING BACK TO WORK.
And as you pull into the parking lot at work and head for the door, you’re already working on your plans for next weekend, so you can have FUN.
It won’t work out, again, but still, you hope….
I’m sure glad that I don’t do that any more.
