Saying I Am Sorry
14 July, 2019

Love...
for the loss of a fellow brother in arms,
for his memory,
e'en though I never knew him,
yet I know of him,
and I understand far too much
of what there is to know now.

There are no words sufficient to say
to give you any sort of peace
or mental or emotional rest,
not even the thought that he be in Heaven...

He was taken from you,
and there is no way to compensate for that.

I am sorry.
Weak words in comparison
to what I am sorry about,
but all that I am able to offer.

I am sorry.
