I Hear You, Pete
30 December, 2019

I hear you, Pete,
and I understand as well....
I, too, am not in the mood.
It has been a hellish year,
and I really see no reason to smile
or celebrate.
Family has disintegrated,
feelings are not hurt -
they are scrapped!
Wants and wishes will ne'er be met,
and accomplishments are still waiting,
piled over in the corner.
All of our great and grand ideas
and thoughts and dreams
are scattered about,
kicked and tossed
and are in disarray,
while we stare helplessly and wonder why
or wonder what we could have done
to make things otherwise.
We are hurt, we are sad, we are angry.....
and sometimes it is only ourselves
we must accuse.
In years past things were different,
and things were full of promise...
those things have suffered
and fallen by the wayside now.
