Just A Feeling

It’s four o’clock in the morning
and the house is quiet,
everyone else is asleep,
but I’m awake.
Gray.
Did you know that a feeling
has color?
Gray.
A defeated feeling color.
Beyond that,
wrapping around it,
too close,
too close,
a darkness moves in
like a cloud…
not threatening,
just coming around,
like it belongs there,
and it has a reason to be there.
It has a job to do.
I am not alarmed,
I do not fear it,
I know it very well,
this feeling of gray,
and I understand the cloud.
Like all things in life,
the gray is there,
the cloud is there,
and soon I will be with them.
I just want to cry a bit first.
