I remember back in-country,
when the shit went down,
we had a saying, -
"Fuckit - don't mean nothin'."
It really did,
but that was our way of trying to handle it,
trying to shove it down,
back from our conscious minds...
it eventually wormed its way
to the outer edges of our fuckin' memories,
but by then enough years had passed
(most times, anyway) so that all we did was cry inside
because it still hurt.
But, by God, we didn't cry so anyone could see.
