All My Fault
9 January, 2004

Today was our one-year anniversary,
I went to a party or two,
I wanted to go have fun,
I wanted to be with you,

We took a few friends,
Had a couple of drinks
Talked to a bunch of people,
Every thing we could think.

You were talking with another girl,
I started to lose my mind
I pulled you away,
And told you I wasn’t blind.

Time came to leave,
We loaded into the car,
I was still mad at you,
We didn’t get too far,

We went across the bridge,
I jerked on the wheel,
We went over and landed hard,
I heard the tires squeal.

I didn’t know you weren’t out,
I thought you went to get someone,
I came back to find you,
But there wasn’t anyone.

I saw the cop and I flagged him down,
I told him we had wrecked,
I didn’t tell him it was my fault,
I didn’t want him to suspect.

He told me that they found you,
You looked like you were sleeping,
I tried to wake you up,
But nothing was happening.

You died because of me,
Because I was so conceded,
Everything was about me,
And everything I needed.

Promise that you’ll write me,
When God is done with his pen,
To tell me how you’re doing,
And if you’re looking good. AMEN
