What The Straphanger Loses When He Leaves
7 October, 2002
Author: Jason Visconti
The long dream of the passenger exits him.
Now he is ready to enter the induced state of suppose
or no possibility at all
watch the world from the stairway’s last step grow larger and sigh.
The conductor and engineer were in cahoots,
but he never could make out their replies
or why the lights in the tunnel always shimmered green
why safety in the dark was a possibility.
