The Role She Plays

You wonder why I act this way,
Well I wonder why too,
You wonder why I say what I say,
I wonder why I say what I do,
You question every move I take,
I question them as well,
You question me if I’m fake,
Well I can’t even tell,
You tell me what to do,
I don’t get to decide,
I must listen to you,
Or it will be a bumpy ride,
I wonder why you act this way,
Why do you control me?
Why do you say what you say?
Why don’t you just let me be?
Let me be me and you be you,
And then let’s leave it be,
Let’s go on and do what we do,
So then we both can see,
You can’t go on being controlling,
That role isn’t yours to play,
For if you did it’d be fooling,
Everyone you’ve known unto this day,
I know you like to be in demand,
I know you like being a leader,
But just think of the role at hand,
Do you really want to be her?
The role isn’t your role to play,
So I won’t give you the part,
Why don’t you start new today?
Just begin by listening to your heart!
