You Can't Hurt Me Anymore

I'm tired of living in fear of you,
I'm still recovering from all you put me through.
You'd tell me who I couldn't talk to,
you'd tell me how to act.
I gave up my freedom and happiness to you,
and now I've got the nerve to say,
I'm taking my life back.
I tried to make excuses,
for the way you treated me.
Your apologies and threats won't hold me back,
this is how it has to be.
Love's supposed to make you happy,
Love's supposed to make your heart race.
Love shouldn't make you cry,
or put bruises on your face.
Someday I will smile again,
and find someone worth caring for.
I'm getting on with my life,
cause you can't hurt me anymore!!
