They look at me all the same
They don't even know me
Yet they judge me.
All they gave me was a single glance
Then they thought they knew me.
In those 10 seconds or less
They thought they have known me for a lifetime.
Not even caring about who I am
Not just by the look of my body
In which I just happen to posses.
After that first impression
Nothing else mattered
Unless they thought you were one of them.
Few made it into their clique
Not making it would mean another summer
Trying to change yourself
So you could be accepted.
They didn't care who you are
Only what they want you to be
What you could make them.
They didn't care about anything else
Your thoughts and feelings didn't matter.
Not me
My mind and body is not caged
But free
Like my spirit.

yeay for leah! shallow people are not so wonderful, but i think they exist because so that the other non-shallow people would learn from them and get to know the person before judging them. They need to look mote than what they see. (Never judge a book by its cover)

ashley and mario ...

Thanks for commenting on my poems, it means a lot to me. And mario thats so verry true. Never judge a book by its cover or in theis case a person by their outside appearence because the true thing is it what is on the inside that counts.

sorry

leah, im sorry if i was ever one of those people. a friend tipped me on the site, and i wanted to apoligize.

Kerel...

The fact that you are appologizing is great. But the pain of every sharp image is still there. If you evere read this again, the next time you see me, give me a hug just to prove that looks dont matter. If your sorry then you wont feel incomfotable in hugging me infront of people. Im glad you came to this and read this poem.

the best poem

Leah this is the best poem i have ever read. It was inspriational to read something so true in our society today. you should not have to appologisise for something you didn't do. You be yourself and that's the best thing you can do. Because if people want you to change just to fit in then they are not worth it.
