Forever and always you are my friend
Hold you head high, this is Middle School's end.
Don't say good-byes just hellos
This is how a friendship grows.
Wipe your tears hug me tight
I will miss you always, morning and night.
Think of me always, as I will you
Don't end friendships, just make new.
We've been through times good and bad
We've shared feelings happy and sad.
Let's keep in touch, and never part
Know forever you are a piece of my heart.
We have watched each other mature and grow
I will madly miss you, that I know.
If you ever need me, I will be there
Feelings, secrets, and problems we share.
You know me, I know you
Together there is nothing we can't do.
You are in my heart, dreams, and mind
You are a valuable treasure that is hard to find.

------- Author's Notes -------

I wrote this as a Thomas S. Hart Middle School Graduate of 2001-2002. I was an eighth grader and this is the first thing that popped into my head when I couldn't sleep one night because all I could think of was how strange it would be to go to a different high school than most of my friends. This poem was written in most of my friends's yearbooks and it was read over the intercom on the last day of our middle school year. All of us cried because we knew things were going to be different. Little did we know that 2 of our friends were moving away. One of them was one of my 2 best friends. So I decided to submit this poem for Tina Garcia. I doubt you will ever read this, but if you do, just know that I miss you and love you very much. I also just wanted to add that Tina moved away to Texas and I spent the last day of her being in Pleasanton crying with her. For the first 3 weeks of her moving, she called me everyday crying because she hated it there and everyone! was mean to her. We talked on the phone, Internet, and wrote letters back and forth. After that, she disappeared. Her cell phone was disconnected, my letters were returning, and her family phone numbers are disconnected too. So, this poem is half for her and the other half is for all of you Middle School Graduates. Good luck in High school and remember just to have fun!

skills

This is very similar to how I would have written something like this... good job... I liked it. Well worded, carried well... syllable structure is great... didn't set off my "OCD" meter at all :).

Beautiful work...,

Leah06;

I'm very proud of you, your work is sincere and gracious and considerate. Your heart spoke clearly here and I hope, Tina will appear again in your life, a friend such as she, it too much to have, just dissapear.

i don't recall this being read over the intercom on the last day, and i was in your class. Maybe it was just me? Either way, it's still excellent. I miss Tina too, and i'm sorry we all got disconnected. Maybe we'll find her someday...

brings back fond memories.....

Leah06, this was a rather extraordinary poem.....kinda takes me back....way back...to my graduation... up on the stage..almost the entire class, staff and families were in tears from a poem shared by a student......one of my best friends still keeps in contact, from time to time...would ya believe we kept in contact since kinder? your poem expresses what it is to be a friend and the growing apart.....but ...thru many fabulous programs i understand ya can reconnect w/those that have strayed ....it is a big world we live in.....excellent & beautiful writing...keep them posted.Terrie
