Mind's Sleep

I'm not able to smell your hair
scented in my dreams
which leave
at odd moments.
Losing them would be
defenseless.

I fantasize
they've gathered at my front gate
unable to enter.

I'm unable at times
to paint your face
in my mind
all gone down
in the river's flow.
I can't watch behind eyelids closed.
I'm only blinking thoughts of you.

I'm unable to ungaze my gaze,
untie my mind,
uncoil my hand.
And, you
know nothing of me
or my dilemmas.

You live in the outer world
and cannot enter mine.
which languishes
in the universe
which lives inside my room.
I cannot abide the sun
and you bathe in light.
I am dark, intense unlight
How can we opposites
approach?
day and night?
How can two lips
react;
love unrequited
and unaddressed.

I am unable to cry
or consume
a love
which does not exist.
But pure it is
and complete
encapsulated
in my mind's sleep.
Unaltered, and permanent,
it rests in eternal sleep
safely secured
neither past, present or future.
