My Hero

What is a hero really? Is it someone who saves you? Is it someone who helps you? Is it someone who does countless things for you? Or is it someone you look up to as a role model? Is it someone you love? If all these characteristics match the identity of a hero, then my hero is my mother for she has done all these things. She has saved me from pain and taken the misery from my life. She has washed all the bad memories and brought in the good with the strongest cleanser of all- "love." She has engraved in my soul that miracles exist, for she is my miracle. We where separated at a young age, and it's a miracle I saw her again for I had only seen her in dreams and never before in reality. When I saw her, she was like a ghost that couldn't be touched for I tried and tried to hold her in those dreams, but reached out only to find that it was a soft mist. And when I tried to fall into her arms, I only fell to darkness. My mother has helped me in many ways that not even GOD can count. She has helped me with life, for that is the best thing that she ever gave me. It's the greatest gift. When my mother did the hardest thing in her life, she actually helped me more than she knows. Some people say that I should hate her for what she did, though I can only thank her. The hate people say I should have could never in a lifetime compare to the love that I have for her. For how can you hate with so much love? The love I have burns through the cold hatred that people say should be there. My love is too strong to crumble before hatred. Hatred shall never take over for my heart is in control. And if a hero is someone you lookup to, then my mother is my hero. I look up to her in so many ways. I look at her like a strong soldier in battle, for she is scared of nothing. She is strong, for she has lost almost everything in her life, and still holds a steady head on her shoulders. She is like a concrete angel, for she rises above all evil, and stands strong when the winds of her past cross her path. She is the sort of person that will never let anyone steal away her dignity. She stands for what she believes. I can also honestly say that I look up to her because it's amazing how much we are alike. I never thought there would be another person in this world that was like me, but I have learned that when you look, you'll find. And if a hero is someone you love, then my mother is definitely my hero. I love my mother so much. As if I have known her forever. Though it may seem odd to others that I love her so much being that I haven't known her for very long. Some say, " how can you love her so much when you have only known her for a short time, and she has not been there." All I can say to those people is she has been there and I have known her in a way that no one will ever see. Some say it's a phase that I will grow out of it. Some say its obsession that won't last forever, but I say its love, and love does last forever. The way I love my mother is in a way that all daughters should love their mothers. When I look at her, all I can see is innocence all I can see is forgiveness, and all I can see is comfort leaving her heart and entering mine because she gives me the warmth and comfort that she was unable to give me 15 years ago. She makes me smile even when I am down I can be crying and look at a picture of her and the smile that appears on her face in the picture is the same smile that appears on my face. All these qualities I love about her, and if a hero is someone you can love, then she shall be mine. My mother means so much to me for I am her angel, she said it herself she holds a picture of me in her heart she will never let go and neither will I, for if anything were to happen to her, I could only die. Though these characteristic
s may never match the identity of someone else's ideal hero, they are the perfect qualities for my hero. Some say the qualities are foolish, but my mother will be my hero until the day I parish.
