Never, Got To Be A Cowboy

Never, got to be, a real, cowboy, but, in my heart
It was, my child hood dream, and to this day, late at night
When I close my eyes, I ride the range…,
I can sense a storm is coming, and see that flash of lightning
This could be the night, of my, last cattle drive.

Then, I awake, and back to my office, and all of those computers
Looks like, I survived, another, cowboy’s, cattle drive…,
Spent the day, taking orders, herding people
Worse than herding sheep…, wishing, I was back, on a cattle drive.

Swollen rivers, we have got to cross, seem to be every where
I hear the boss, yell, get that beef across! or there will be, no pay
God, its hard, but simple, I love living, the cowboy way,
I know exactly, what, I have to do, from day to day…,

My boss, walks into my office, and he says to me…,.
This project with IBX, is critical, get on it, right away!
He looks at me for my reply, asks, if, I understand?
I smile at him…, and say, “Yep,” then he, just walks away.

------- Author's Notes -------

This is for all of you, who dream of freedom, each, in your own, way. Also, to Waylon Jennings, we miss you, and your, outlaw ways. Dedicated to Faith, a poet that I do not know except, in the words she wrote in her poem called, “In Memory Of You” which is all, I need to know.

Thank You So Much!

I wanted to thank you for dedicating such a beautiful poem to me...As you know I lost my cowboy and your poem you left there helped me out a lot. So once again thank you so much! God Bless
