In My Dreams

the u.s. is furious
France is scared
we are all quarreling over one man
how could this be?
how could this happen?
that one man is in all of our dreams
not good ones though it may seem
when he's gone all will be right
and I'll be able to sleep through the night

suddam has been hurt
he has not been seen
the enemy is changing its shirt
going from soldier to civilian
we have been killing
it's not our fault
how did we know?
we are not putting on a show

people scream
people die
when will it stop?
will we ever know why?

Suddam has been giving speeches telling to rebel
are they real?
can we ever tell?
these questions will haunt me through the night
the military ponders and examines the tapes
are they real..... are they fake
how much time will it take?

POWs are in danger
God bless their souls
will they come home in a box to grieving families
or on a plane to love ones embrace?

May the outcome be good
did we do right?
may I not feel guilty as I sleep through the night

the lives lost compare against the ones saved
hopefully the good outnumbers the bad
hopefully we gained

Like the ancient Chinese Yin-Yang
may we stay balanced
our hearts can not endure too much of the sorrow
too much of the pain
keep us happy
keep our hearts in tacked
Please let me sleep through the night

He is missing
he's not been seen or heard of for a while
perhaps he's gone
possibly finished
my dreams will be safe with imaginary things
no more nightmares
only good dreams
