Mental Race

As the rain falls upon my face
the memories that i found
put me on a mental race.
private retreats of my mind
have captured the things to change
and so i live, i must not be so blind.
echoes of the past
the memories still do last
emotions floating free
memories stay inside of me.
along with all my dreams
i stand face to face
split between two seams.
between all the times i cried for you
between all the tears i lost
i got so lonely for you
i paid the human cost.
i paid until i died inside
until emotionally i was drained
feelings for you i could not hide
devastation in my heart was unchained.
forever since the countless days
forever we went our separate ways
i've stumbled,
i've tried
to myself i've even lied
but to no avail.
we're now in separate places
and the past is far behind us now
i wish i could go back
unfortunatly i don't know how.
