My Angel's Name

Dear Lord, from the moment you first gifted me with life
and placed me in your Angel’s loving care,
in the shelter of her womb did you bring me into bloom
so I could know an earthly love beyond compare?

Did you know I’d find a place in her warm and sweet embrace
that would chase away my hunger and my tears?
And that just a simple kiss from your Angel’s loving lips
would quickly conquer and erase away my fears?

Did you know Lord, all the while, that in her tender smile
I would be nourished in the lessons that she taught?
That with her firm but gentle hands she would guide and reprimand
so I could flourish in the challenges life brought?

And when my childhood was done and my womanhood begun
were you aware she’d sacrificed so many things,
just to lead me down a path, so that one day I might have
a chance to earn myself an Angel’s pair of wings?

Did you know how I would grow to adore your Angel so
in a regard, where I could never hold another?
Only your Angel here on earth, who on the moment of my birth
you so lovingly bestowed the name of “Mother”
