Flight 1340

Safely ensconed in my seat, prepared for takeoff
I peer out the window
Snow is falling, creating teardrops on the pane
blanketing the earth in a purity of whiteness
I witness skyline and earth merging as one
In the distance beacons of light appear as if in a haze
There is a solitariness inside and out
I question the forces of the elements
Will man and nature come together as one?
There is a danger and yet a challenge

And now the journey begins
The ascent through a pathway of whiteness promises to test the limits of man and technology
as visionless, man relies on instruments alone

Prayerful and careful thoughts pervade the mind
Creatures held captive at the whim of nature
In the end, safeguarded by the peace found in the spiritual connectedness of body and soul
I find no terror, only sadness at the possible loss of goodbyes

The journey continues sightless for innumerable miles
suddenly, from a distant source, a radiant light penetrates the still very white horizon
Far below ripples of white appear as imaginary ice floes
The destination is in sight
Magically man and nature have reigned together
the ovation of descent the cherished prize

Let's Give Peggy a Hand!!!

It almost feels like I'm up in that same airplane too. You worded your poem so well. Just like the day you went. You must have a photographic memory to memorize the skyline and the whole nine yards. Very well expressive. I like that!
