The Wind

the wind carried me
this early october morning.
it carried me to the bus stop.
it played in the huge muscular trees-
spiraling,
imitating a small hurricane,
hiding in the yellowing leaves
sneezing gulping swooshing
and then
the rain,
slashing sideways,
conspired with the wind
and poured onto the streets
where rivers formed.

in the welcome warmth of the bus,
the droplets of rain
stuck to the windows
wiggled jiggled like jello
then slithered
entertaining me for hours.
later-
this windy rain
drenched me,
swept me away
to other places,
to the stark reality of the moment.
it drained me
and cleansed me
touched me,
caressed me,
played with me all through this day.
even at home,
warm and fed,
this windy rain
sang and whistled its
night time songs
knocked at my windows,
spilling its secrets,
howling for attention
and then
sang me to sleep.
